Nimble Flex

Cable Length

Nimble Flex.

The Nimble Flex gives you unparalleled flexibility allowing for a wide range of possible drive cable positions and mounting orientations

Consistently the smallest lightest extruder available, the Flex continues this trend weighing less than 25 grams. It removes almost all of the weight compared to other extruders.

Easy to install and easy to use. Changing filaments has always been a snap using our innovative breech system. Due to the breech, we have customers with 4 head toolchangers achieving up to 16 colour prints.

Improved even further for the Flex our breech and hob combination allows any filament to be printed. From super hard carbon filled filament, to the floppiest filament in existence X60.

As a Remote Direct Drive extruder the Flex is powered via a drive cable that transmits the remote power of the stepper directly to the gear system inside the Nimble. The gear ratio within makes it well suited to fine detailed printing with small nozzle sizes (as small as 0.02mm) , but it works just as well with common nozzle sizes (0.3-0.8mm).

Available with 3 different cable lengths.

  • Our 75cm cable is well suited for small printers like the Ender 3
  • The 95cm cable is typically well suited to printers with 30cm square beds
  • On a delta using the 120cm cable you can realistically acheive prints that are more than 1 meter tall or beds that are around 1m square.

The Nimble can be mounted left-handed or right-handed and uses an adapter system. This makes it easy to install and easy to switch to another printer. For details, check out the adapter page.

Features:

  • 30:1 gear ratio for increased control on the extrusion.
  • Improved strength of printed parts.
  • Shell halves click together for easy handling during installation.
  • Increased temperature resilience.
  • Even lighter than the original Nimble
  • Unparalleled flexibility in drive cable positions.
  • Completely overhauled easier to open breech.
  • Inbuilt clamp for reverse bowden.
  • Inbuilt hotend PTFE cutting measure.
  • Injection-molded hotend PTFE clip that ensures centreline of Nimble.
  • Improved strength.

Facts and figures

  • WxDxH is 29.1x37.9x33.8 mm for the unit itself and 45.7 mm tall with the sleeve clamp.
  • Weight is less than 25 grams.
  • Drive cable is 95 cm long. You can order other sizes if you want a different length.
  • Only tools needed: a 2.5 mm and a 1.5 mm Allen key or hex key. If you need to use the M3 nuts you also need a 5.5 mm wrench or spanner.
  • It will fit any Nema17 or 14 stepper, the suggested torque rating is: 16N/cm. We used: StepperOnline Nema17 Stepper Motor 17HS08-1004S
  • Filament size: 1.75 mm is standard.
  • Any standard hot-end can be used. If it is a Bowden hot-end, remove the bowden connector, it is no longer needed.
  • The MJF printed parts of the Nimble may exhibit mild variations in colour.

*The Creality CR-10Pro currently does not support the Nimble. The driver used for the extruder stepper cannot handle the speeds needed for the Nimble. We have developed a solution with the Speedbox.
